"What should I wear for my shoot?"

This is one of the primary questions women have when booking their boudoir shoot, and in my opinion, one of the funnest! I often see brands like Shein, Honey Birdette, and Victoria's Secret recommended to women who are looking to buy lingerie for a shoot—and that definitely makes sense, given how they offer a great selection of affordable, basic pieces! But as someone who personally loves lingerie, I know the world of lingerie has a TON of brands to buy from that are not only affordable, but also offer quality craftsmanship, incredible designs, and (for the most part) a more inclusive size range.

So I decided to compile a list of some of my personal favorite lingerie brands that won't break the bank!

1. Bluebella

Bluebella's price point is pretty budget-friendly for a luxury brand—it certainly rivals lingerie giant Victoria's Secret in that regard, but in terms of style, VS absolutely can't compete. Bluebella's designs are super modern: their pieces feature sleek lines, rich floral appliques, perfectly placed cutouts, and straps on straps on straps. I often think of Bluebella as a brand where edgy meets feminine in a maximalist way. Anything I've bought from Bluebella has fit wonderfully and stood up to multiple washes. I personally feel that a Bluebella purchase is a great investment, for your shoot and beyond.

2. Playful Promises

UK-based Playful Promises is one of my go-to sites for lingerie. While they're not strictly a brand (much like ASOS, they carry their own brand as well as others), they carry a selection of quality pieces that fit a variety of styles and budgets (check out their sale section!). They carry feminine styles, retro/pinup styles, kinky and risque styles, and modern styles. The one unifying element to their pieces, in my opinion, is glamour and decadence. Plus, you can find everything from 3 piece sets to nighties to harnesses, so if you're thinking a unique look for you're shoot, you'll likely find something on their site. You're definitely spoiled for choice when you shop Playful Promises!

3. Blush Lingerie

Blush Lingerie carries a variety of great pieces, but my absolute favorite pieces of theirs are their basic bras and high-waist, high-leg bottoms. The silhouette is minimal and on-trend, with simple. sleek lines that are almost universally flattering. They also go beyond basics with fun pieces like the Glitch asymmetric set and the Revolve geometric mesh bodysuit. Definitely worth checking out if you like a modern, clean style at a great price!

4. Intimissimi

For a more mainstream lingerie brand, I've personally been very pleasantly surprised by Intimissimi. The "Italian Victoria's Secret" offers some beautiful pieces at a similar price point to VS; like Playful Promises, they also offer a good variety of lingerie, basics, and nightwear, so you have a lot to choose from if your style and desired level of modesty varies a bit from the basic two-piece lingerie look. They also frequently have great pieces on sale; make sure to check them out from time to time for some steals!

5. Naked Intersection

Naked Intersection's designs are subdued, utilizing simple lines and fabrics to highlight the body's softness and natural femininity. I love Naked Intersection's minimal and breathable approach to lingerie—perfect if you prefer a very toned-down, intimate look for your shoot. The Fleur thong is the perfect scrunch panty; the Boyfriend Brief is quintessential laid-back sexy, and would pair perfectly with a white tee or cami. The price point may not be as affordable as some other affordable options, but still quite affordable for being ethically and sustainably made.
